Real-life castles

Having fun while learning history

Whatever your destination may be in Trentino, you’re sure to find a castle there in some lofty, imposing position, waiting to greet you with its crenellated walls, high towers and elegant arcades. These are real-life castles, not the ones you find in fairytales. In these otherworldly places, with their aura of mystery, children will learn all about history through games and adventure, amid elegant halls, long corridors, and grand windows overlooking the rooftops of the town or the wide open valleys.

Discovering the castles of Trentino with your little ones, or even slightly older children, is an experience we highly recommend. If you take a look below, where we’ve listed some of the activities organised by the castles, you’ll understand why!

Easter Monday at Nanno Castle

At Nanno Castle in Val di Non, on Easter Monday, parents can visit the castle while children enjoy the fun of an Easter workshop. Then, everyone can join in the Easter Egg hunt together.

Treasure hunt

In Trentino’s most elegant castle, Valer Castle in Val di Non, each visit is a chance to search for clues. Little ones will love the challenge to be the first to spot them! Fun is guaranteed for all.

Castel Beseno for kids

Explore Castel Beseno, one of Trentino’s most impressive castles, through visits and activities organized by the Museum’s Educational Services. Designed for parents and children to enjoy together, the activities combine play and creativity to encourage learning and cultural discovery.

Museum Games

Five castles, from the cities to the valleys (Buonconsiglio Castle, Thun Castle, Stenico Castle, Beseno Castle and Caldes Castle) will welcome you and your children to explore, take part in planned workshops, and enjoy lots of free, unscheduled activities.

Trenino dei Castelli

This special little train sets out from Trento and takes passengers into Val di Sole and Val di Non to visit four castles. This journey into times past, which also has dates specifically tailored to children, offers simple language and lots of delightful activities.
