Agritourisms and cow sheds Palù del Fersina

The new Palù del Fersina mountain hut is located at an altitude of about 1,660 metres in the locality of Bastistertol, in a position overlooking the town that is part of a characteristic alpine landscape. The birth of the structure responds to the desire to restore centrality to the historic livestock vocation of the area, historically focused on the breeding of dairy cows, the management of pastures and the constant care of the mountains. In this context, agricultural activity is not only seen as an economic resource, but is also an essential means to stem depopulation, keep the meadows active and strengthen the deep bond between the local community, the territory and its ancient traditions.

The complex has been conceived as an integrated production and accommodation model, which houses a high-altitude barn complete with barn and fertiliser factory, a dairy farm dedicated to milk processing and an agritourism structure with an adjoining point of sale for the enhancement of local productions. In addition to its productive value, the initiative assumes fundamental importance for the maintenance of the mountain landscape, allowing the recovery and cleaning of grassland and pasture areas affected by the damage of Storm Vaia, as well as generating new employment opportunities. The malga is therefore proposed as a dynamic space where rural memory opens up to new ways of narrating and using the mountain, offering residents and tourists the opportunity to experience the interaction between local identity, the environment and agricultural practices.
