16 - Tour of Pornal

The Serrada saddle borders the Folgaria plateau to the southeast and overlooks, facing the massive Pasubio mountain range, the deep and panoramic Val di Terragnòlo. The Alpe Cimbra shares the same German-Cimbrian origin with the Terragnòlo valley. But the history and economy are different: for the Alpe it is about alpine pastures, forestry, and tourism; for the Terragnòlo valley, especially in the past, it involved cultivation on steep slopes, hard life, and emigration. The Pornal route allows the hiker to &#039;peek&#039; into the valley, arriving at Pornal, one of the highest villages in the deep valley gorge. <p> </p>

The environment we are walking through is typical of coppice woodland (pines, hornbeams, beeches, some fir) grown on a limestone rock substrate. It holds the charm of an environment different from the typical Alpe one and the opportunity to visit a typical rural village (Pornal) of the Terragnòlo valley.
