Ascent to Toraro
Il Toraro dominates from the east the vast Alpe di Melegna and the Campiluzzi valley. From the 1897 m summit, a magnificent panorama opens onto the Coe pass, the ridges of the Monte Maggio ridge, and the Veneto-Vicentine valleys, up to the Asiago plateau.
The excursion utilizes the road that from the Valbona pass cuts across the high north and northeast slope of the mountain, built by the Air Force in the early 1960s to reach the mountain summit where the control area (radar and electronic vehicles) of the nearby NATO missile base launch area of Malga Zonta was set up, now a museum setup of Base Tuono.
