The excursion follows the dirt road that climbs to the welcoming Malga Luco. The exposure is mostly northeast, so snow conditions remain good. Moreover, the snow is mostly always packed because the malga managers groom it with a snowmobile.

    Author’s recommendation

Those who want to extend the route can leave their car in the charming South Tyrolean village of Senale (Unsere liebe Frau im Walde) and from here take the old cart track leading to Passo Palade. Starting from Senale, it is worthwhile to visit the beautiful sanctuary dedicated to the Madonna of Unsere liebe Frau im Walde.

    Safety information

The route does not have particular technical difficulties. However, you should be familiar with snowy environments to tackle it. Alternatively, we always recommend relying on a mountain guide in one of our winter guided hikes: book comfortably online here

    Tips and suggestions

Before setting off on a snow hike, always check the avalanche bulletin here!

    Roadbook

From Passo Palade, follow the obvious forest road with a steady incline up to the Malga Luco. The route faces east, which is why the snow usually lasts throughout the winter season.

The return is along the same way back.
