On the borders of the princedoms of Trento and Brixen

At "Bosc’ di Baic", once "Baic di Cela", you can see the ruins of the cabins where the inhabitants of Soraga used to conceal their cattle from the starved soldiers of the First World War passing through. 

From Moena, ascending the "Avisio" river, you reach the ancient agglomeration of Soraga: a truly picture-postcard landscape opens up before your eyes. Soraga is cut by the "Rif del Termen" stream, which once marked the boundary between the bishop's principalities of Bressanone and Trento, of which only Moena was a part. As a reminder of the boundary, a board still indicates boundary stone number 4, dating back to 1551, which depicts the coats of arms of Trent, the eagle, and Brixen, the lamb. It is on these alluvial terraces that the seven farmsteads ("masi") that were the original nuclei of the Soraga settlement still stand: "Cioch", "Gherghele", "Molin", "Palùa", "Roisc", "Sala" and "Sester". The walk to "Palùa" crosses meadows and woods. On the way, in the locality "Bosc’ di Baic" (from the Ladin "bosco di baite"), you can see the ruins of three rustic huts, one of which still has its perimeter walls, where farmers used to hide their livestock to avoid the raids of soldiers returning from the front during the Great War.
