The Miners’ ring
A fascinating circular route that takes in the landmarks of the mining history of the Valle dei Mòcheni, including old mines, museums, farmsteads, archaeological sites and examples of local culture.
The Miners’ Trail offers an insight into the deep connection between the Mòcheni Valley and the mining industry that has characterised this area for centuries.

The route starts from the car park at Paoar, where the S Pèrgmandlhaus Museum, dedicated to the history of the Mòcheni miners, is located. From here, the route follows the forest track along the left bank of the Fersina stream until it reaches Maso Lenzi and the Erdemolo Mine, one of the most significant examples of the valley’s mining heritage.

The route then continues towards the villages of Laner, Naibis and Baldel, passing through a rural landscape characterised by meadows and historic farmsteads. The circular route continues via Fikareim and Tolleri-Jerger, with the option to visit the Lenzi Mill before returning to Paoar.

The second part of the route crosses the opposite side of the valley, passing through the hamlets of Rastl and U’Mezbolt to the Acqua Fredda Archaeological Site at Passo Redebus, an important site linked to copper smelting in protohistoric times. The return journey passes through Fernù and Stelder, taking in the Church of Santa Maria Maddalena and the historic centre of Stefani-Steffener. The final stretch leads towards the Fersina stream and the Old Sawmill.

For a more in-depth visit, we recommend splitting the route into two days or two separate sections.
