The War Observatory Trail: Monte Stavel – Val Genova – The Great War Itineraries
A challenging and exceptionally beautiful trail along the Val Siniciaga valley – a side vale of the Val Genova valley that bears visible traces of World War I, such as high-altitude caves and trenches.
Both historically and environmentally extraordinary, yet physically challenging, this route leads to little-visited locations of unparalleled beauty, marked by traces of World War I, such as caves and trenches at high altitude. From Scala di Bò, in the Val Genova valley, the trail ascends the Val Siniciaga valley until it reaches the ridge of Monte Rocca (including a short fixed-rope section) and proceeds to the Om di Lares mountain pass and the Monte Stavel mountain. The return route runs past the Malga Germenega pastures and then back to the starting point in Val Genova.
