The Rifugio Stella Alpina al Lago Corvo lies on the border between the provinces of Trento and Bolzano near Passo Rabbi, which connects the Val di Rabbi with the Val d'Ultimo. It was built in 1952 in stone and wood in a place where livestock traditionally passed through. A little higher up are the spectacular Lago Corvo and other little glacial lakes. Arctic char live in these blue waters (which give a touch of colour to the harsh mountain environment which surrounds them), while the crags surrounding the lake are the habitat of chamois. It’s a typical scene in the Stelvio National Park, a high-altitude reserve where more than 70% of the land is over 2,000 metres above sea level. Open From 20 June to 20 September Before leaving for your hike, always contact the manager to verify the actual opening of the mountain hut Walks It’s a 4-hour walk (difficulty E) to the Rifugio Saènt Silvio Dorigoni in the upper Val Saènt. The walk through the Val di Bresimo to Malga Bordolona di Sotto takes 3 hours 20 minutes (difficulty E). The ascent of Monte Collecchio (2 hours, difficulty E) is within the abilities of all walkers and the route passes a few glacial lakes including Lago Corvo.
