Alba Armengou, singer and trumpeter from Barcelona, is an exceptional talent. A highly talented soloist, Alba Armengou joined the renowned Sant Andreu Jazz Band in Barcelona at the age of seven, where she remained for a total of 13 years. This prestigious and renowned jazz school has produced many stars, such as Andrea Motis and Rita Payés. During her time with the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, she deepened her understanding of jazz and was able to fully develop her extraordinary talent both as a trumpeter and as a singer. It is no surprise that by the age of 21, she had already contributed to over 30 albums. In 2020, she launched her musical project with guitarist Vicente López and released her debut solo album, "Susurros del Viento." In this album, she combined all the musical styles that have accompanied her on her journey, strongly influenced by Latin American and Brazilian music. On stage, she captivates in trio or sextet with an emotional musical journey and her inner sound universe, drawing inspiration from boleros, cançó catalana, bossa nova, Latin, and jazz. Alba Armengou sings with her captivating voice in four languages: Catalan, Spanish, English, and Portuguese.
The evening continues with the Olivia Trummer New Trio. As the name suggests, it’s time for novelties from Olivia Trummer. The award-winning pianist, composer, and singer presents her new songs and explores new boundaries with an unprecedented trio, finding the right path in pop that takes shape from jazz, keeping its value and content, and stylistically inspired by the music of Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, and Oleta Adams. Catchy melodies that develop with spontaneous inventiveness, instrumental virtuosity alternating with engaging grooves, Olivia's new songs speak of an unexpected crossroads in life, a love that dissolves the boundaries of space and time, and invite us to see the world with new, wide-open eyes.
Olivia Trummer is considered one of the most interesting jazz musicians of her generation. With her pianistic approach and unique voice, she creates an entirely new connection between genres, earning her various recognitions. After classical and later jazz studies in Stuttgart, she flew across the ocean to deepen her relationship with music at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. She is active on stages worldwide as a bandleader, with her own projects, and as a sidewoman in important formations such as Kurt Rosenwinkel’s “Caipi Band.” Olivia also leaves her mark as a songwriter, with lyrics that carefully mediate between mind and heart. She is currently working on her eleventh album.
Makar Novikov, from Moscow, is one of the most recognized Russian double bassists. With solid experience as both a sideman and a virtuoso soloist, he has played with Jimmy Cobb, Clark Terry, Jimmy Heath, and James Spaulding, and regularly appears in trio formations with his fellow Russian trumpeter Alex Sipiagin and Azerbaijani Isfar Sarabski. He was stranded in Italy during a tour at the outbreak of war, with only one suitcase. He settled in the northern part of Italy and is considered a valuable new asset to the European jazz scene. Since 2023, he has been part of the teaching staff at the Siena Jazz Academy. In 2025, he will debut as a bandleader with the release of an album for Rainy Days Records.
Drummer Amir Bresler, who graduated with honors from the jazz program at the Thelma-Yellin National High School of the Arts in Givataim, Israel, has since established himself internationally as one of the most sought-after drummers. In 2010, Amir took part in a worldwide tour with the famous bassist, singer, and composer Avishai Cohen. Since 2013, he has been a regular member of the Omer Klein Trio and works regularly with artists like Sam Yahel, Mark Turner, Gilad Hekselman, Shai Maestro, and Yotam Silberstein. His playing style is characterized by imaginative fluidity and an irresistible groove.
