Alfredo Rodriguez Trio - Garda Jazz Festival
A journey from Cuba to the world, through modern jazz
Alfredo Rodríguez, born in Havana in 1985, is now considered one of the most original pianists on the international jazz scene. Raised in a family deeply rooted in Cuban musical tradition, he began studying music at a young age and later refined his craft at the National Conservatory of Music in Cuba.
His career took a decisive turn when he performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, where he was discovered by Quincy Jones, who invited him to move to the United States. From that moment on, Alfredo has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages and received a Grammy nomination for Guantanamera from the album The Invasion Parade.
He was also the first non-Chinese artist to collaborate on the English version of the official theme song for the Shanghai Expo 2010, working alongside Tan Dun, Siedah Garrett, and Quincy Jones.
In his albums Invasion Parade, Tocororo, and Duologue, Alfredo collaborated with acclaimed artists such as Esperanza Spalding, Richard Bona, and Ibeyi, as well as jazz legends like Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock, and Dianne Reeves.
His latest project, Coral Way, marks a new chapter in his artistic journey. It’s an invitation to explore his Cuban roots through a modern and deeply personal lens, blending jazz, Latin, and pop influences into a vibrant, emotionally rich musical language.
