The return of the livestock from the mountain pastures is always a time of celebration, and in Soraga the "Desmonteada" retains all the charm of an ancient tradition. The most eagerly awaited moment comes at 12:30 pm, when a procession of cows, sheep, goats, donkeys and pigs makes its way along the village's main street, accompanied by the shepherds and herdsmen who have looked after them all summer long.
The festivities, however, begin in the morning. From 9:00 am, the organic market opens in "Prà del Preve", the green space next to the church; from 10:00 am, the village streets come alive with music and folk dancing, while at 10:30 am, in the square "Piaz de Bepo Roch", it's time for the traditional farmers' aperitif. At 12:00 pm, there's a demonstration of traditional cheese-making and the kitchens open for lunch.
After the parade, the procession reaches "Prà del Preve", where the festivities continue into the afternoon with live music and performances by folk groups.
The "Desmonteada" is organized by the Soraga municipality with the association "Malghe e pascoli di Soraga".
The main road will be closed to vehicular traffic from 12:30 pm to 1 pm.
