Desmonteada de Soraga
Feast, complete with a parade in traditional Ladin costume, for the cattle comeback to the village after the summer spent in the alpine pastures at San Pellegrino Pass
The return of livestock from the pastures is always a time of celebration, and in Soraga, the "Desmonteada" preserves all the charm of an ancient ritual. This authentic event is not to be missed. It begins at 12:30 p.m. along the main street of the village with a parade of cows, sheep, goats, donkeys and pigs, accompanied by the shepherds and dairy farmers who have looked after them throughout the summer. The parade ends in "Prà del Preve", the green area next to the church, where the day begins at 9 a.m. with the opening of the organic market and a demonstration of artisan cheese making. From 10:00, the streets of the village come alive with music and folk dancing, while at 10:30, in the square "Piaz de Bepo Roch", there is a toast with the traditional farmer's aperitif. At 12 noon, the kitchens open to serve a lunch of simple, authentic flavours, which will accompany the afternoon with live music by the "Vollagas" group and performances by folk groups.
The "Desmonteada" is organized by the Soraga municipality with the association "Malghe e pascoli di Soraga".
The main road will be closed to vehicular traffic from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.
