Popcorner: The voice of the new generation
The youthful sound that lights up the evening with a mix of original Ladin songs and great international covers
"Popcorner" are a breath of fresh air on the Ladin music scene. Young musicians and singers from the Val di Fassa bring the beauty of original music to the squares and theatres of the valley... in the Ladin language! Formed in 2023, the seven members of the band - Sabrina Calligari (vocals, acoustic guitar), Melany Locatin (vocals), Mery Locatin (vocals), Gianpaolo Chiocchetti (acoustic and electric guitar), Nicolò Dorich (bass), Daniele Chiocchetti (keyboards) and Tommaso Dondio (drums) - have chosen not to limit themselves to covers: their journey began with songwriting and music production workshops to create original songs that convey emotions, reflections and current issues with a whole new sensitivity. Their sound? A modern and original mix, ranging across different genres, united by the power of female voices and the instrumental complicity of a close-knit band. Popcorner represent a small, young and lively musical corner where tradition meets contemporary style. The name "Popcorner" has a curious double meaning: "pop", which in Ladin language means "child", but also refers to the pop music genre at the heart of their style; and "corner", which in Ladin language means "wanderer". Combined with their music, this term becomes a symbol of freedom, exploration and movement. As young ‘wandering musicians’, Popcorner travel between emotions, ideas and melodies, bringing new stories to every corner of the valley. Despite their recent formation, Popcorner have already performed on major stages. They were selected for the Ladinia Tour 2023, which took them to perform in Val di Fassa, Val Gardena and Val Badia, three cradles of Ladin culture. In 2024, they took part in the Rock the Dolomites event on the snow of Val Gardena. Among their most significant experiences is their participation in TEDx Trento Salon 2023 in Moena, bringing their young Ladin voice to a context dedicated to ideas and change. Three unreleased tracks in Ladin are already available on all major streaming platforms. And from the end of June 2025... the band's first album, "Utar piata", will be available online.
