Vigo: a singing village!
For the traditional summer music festival, the "Lagorai" Choir performs a rich repertoire of popular songs in the village square
Traditional mountain songs inspired by the grandiose Alpine landscapes, glaciers, forests and legends of the Dolomites. Every Thursday evening, we will be able to listen to pieces skilfully performed by local choral groups, who will entertain us in an exciting concert, sure to be appreciated by valley dwellers and tourists alike. On 10 Juli, at 9.15 p.m., the "Lagorai" Choir from Cavalese will perform in the square in front of the tourist office in Vigo.
Founded in Torcegno in 1982, the "Lagorai" Choir takes its name from the mountain range that surrounds the Trentino villages of the eastern Valsugana, where its singers come from. With a repertoire of folk, Alpine and liturgical songs, it tells stories of emigration, ancient crafts, love and village life. Since 1993, it has been directed continuously by Maestro Fulvio Ropelato. Alongside its musical activities, the choir is also dedicated to the preservation of memories and traditions: among its most heartfelt projects is the documentary film "Lagorai: la montagna, la sua gente, i suoi canti" (Lagorai: the mountain, its people, its songs), produced with Sirio Film in 2005. One of its most exciting experiences was its performance in St. Peter's Square in 2019 for the inauguration of the Valsugana Nativity Scene.
The concert is free of charge. In case of bad weather at the events pavilion in front of Hotel Vael.
