Salone Hofer
The Hotel Relais Des Alpes hosts a prestigious ballroom. The name derives from the Art Nouveau paintings by Gottfried Hofer.
It is the ballroom of the historic Hotel Relais Des Alpes, one of the testimonies of the Habsburg history of Madonna di Campiglio. Its walls are decorated with Art Nouveau paintings by the Austrian painter Gottfried Hofer at the end of the 19th century. On one wall, the artist painted portraits of Princess Sissi and the Emperor Franz Josef in two medallions. In fact, the Princess stayed in Madonna di Campiglio twice, in 1889 and 1894, enjoying long and relaxing walks in the surroundings. Today, the traditional Great Ball of the Emperor takes place here, which closes the Habsburg Carnival, the great party in period costume that evokes the atmospheres of late nineteenth-century Mitteleuropa. Salone Hofer can be visited when not in use.
