Torre Aquila

This building inside the Castello del Buonconsiglio contains a treasure not to be missed: the pictorial cycle of the Months, in which the flow of time and daily activities of the late 14th century are described.

It is one of the two towers inside the Castello del Buonconsiglio, but above all a treasure chest that contains valuable decorations and frescoes. Don't forget to visit the main hall, on the second floor: its walls are decorated with the famous Cycle of Months, probably created by Master Wenceslas. In addition to representing the flow of time, these frescoes constitute one of the rarest and most precious figurative documents of economic and social life between the 1300s and the 1400s. The changing of nature is described with sensitive attention. Equally extraordinary is the care for the details of the clothes of the people depicted in the pictorial cycle and for the different daily activities (from plowing to harvesting to sowing). You can access the tower by following the walk along the eastern walls of the castle.
