The parish priest of Molveno, Don Taialacqua, had seen us at length. In the sixteenth century, with his initiative supported by the villagers, a sawmill was built with the idea of exploiting, thanks to the toothed wheel, the strength of the water of the Rio Molini, fresh water that descends today as then from the springs of the Brenta.

Today here in Molveno, half a millennium later, the mechanism that allowed cutting the boards, called "Molvene", is still working.

You can see the exterior all year round: discover the history thanks to the information panels.

During the summer, a sawmill organises guided tours with demonstrations. You book them at the Molveno information office. There's also room for your dogs, if you keep them on a leash next to you.

The tour route is dirt and has small steps. Do not climb on wood stacks: logs can move.

If you are on holiday in the nearby villages, get there comfortably by bus to the shore of Molveno. You are a few minutes walk from the sawmill.
