This is an unmissable attraction for visitors to Val di Fiemme. Built towards the end of the 13th century and definitively restored in 2009, today the building is a Museum and Art Gallery which bears witness to the extensive local history.
The complex, which occupies the ancient rooms of the bishop’s apartments, houses an incredibly important archive of manuscripts, statutes and deeds which document the epic tale of the Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme, the thousand-year-old body which manages the mountains, meadows and forests of the valley to this day. As you make your way through the rooms, you can’t help but admire the collection of paintings from leading artists of the Fiemme School of Art. And of course, you simply can’t miss the outstanding series of Renaissance frescoes most likely painted by the Vicenza artist Marcello Fogolino.
