14 - Naoch circuit
Naoch (or Nauch) is a toponym of German-Cimbrian origin and refers to the hill rising south of the village of Serrada, on the ridge of Monte Finonchio. Due to its position, the height was chosen by the ancient inhabitants of the area to place a rural chapel of which only the foundations remain. During the Great War, it was also the site of a series of front line trenches overlooking the valley of Terragnolo below.
On this route, the signs of history blend with the beauty of the forest covering the hill, a mixed forest of conifers (pines, firs, larches) and broadleaves (beech, hornbeams). In the past, the vegetation was sparse allowing wide panoramic views of Val di Terragnolo and the Pasubio mountain range, but today the forest no longer allows this. The walk, suitable also for families with children aged 6 and over, has a first uphill section, balanced by a pleasant descent on the south-west side.
