At the foot of the Larséch, in the silence of rural peasant life

Pera, meaning stone, owes its name to the erratic boulder of the town located next to the historic Albergo Rizzi. But its fame is linked to the world of mountaineering for which it is a natural gateway.

Pera is the birthplace of Tita Piaz, the Devil of the Dolomites, the legendary mountaineer but also Ladin writer and poet. Moreover, the town has an extraordinary position at the entrance to the Vaiolet Valley. A gateway to the Gardeccia basin with its priceless views in the Catinaccio group. The walk is in fact a Stations of the Cross. From Pera it reaches Muncion, a settlement far from roads and noise, which is repopulating with families in search of nature and peace. Fourteen blessed chapels connect the two settlements, built in the second half of the 19th century by the families of the Muncion and Ronch hamlets. New images representing the Passion of Christ displayed there were donated in 2000, on the occasion of the Sant’Anna festival, patron saint of Muncion, by the painter Tullio Bernard. On your return to Pera, from the locality of Soal, look up at the sky because, to the side, the Larséch cliffs accompany your path.
