Camino Jacopeo d'Anaunia - stage II

From Senale to Rumo. The second stage of the Camino Jacopeo d’Anaunia starts from Senale-Unsere Liebe Frau im Walde and leads us into the valley of Rumo, a world that has preserved a pleasantly alpine charm.

This stage is somewhat more challenging than the previous one, both due to the numerous ups and downs encountered and the few villages crossed where you can stock up or interrupt the walk.

However, the beauty of the landscapes and panoramic views will reward the walkers.

Senale is a place of pilgrimage but was once also a transit point for travelers or pilgrims heading to Rome along the Romea or Francigena roads, or toward Mediterranean ports to reach Jerusalem. Along the way, we encounter Lauregno, a German-speaking village made up of many century-old mountain farms, whose central core formed around the ancient parish church with outside the typical Tyrolean cemetery with wrought iron crosses. In Corte Inferiore, a visit is worth the little church of St. Udalrico, rich in precious 15th-century frescoes created by Giovanni and Battista Baschenis.

At this point, you must decide whether to conclude the Camino by going to Sanzeno thanks to the Variant of stage 3 or continue with Stage number 3 to Terzolas.
