Colverde – Ferrata Bolver Lugli – Vezzana – Rifugio Pedrotti

This excursion touches two of the most iconic places in the Pale di San Martino, the Ferrata Bolver-Lugli (also known as Ferrata del Cimóne) and Cima Vezzana.

The summit of Vezzana which can also be reached through two other accesses, the Val dei Cantoni and the Val de Strutt passing through the Bivacco Brunner, during weekends in the summer season might be quite crowded. Conversely, the access proposed in this excursion that climbs through the via ferrata usually is not, as it requires a medium-high level of experience. The ferrata develops on the southwestern side of the Cimòn della Pala (or more simply Cimóne), also known as the Matterhorn of the Dolomites, because its shape, when viewed from Passo Rolle, resembles the most famous peak of the Western Alps. During the first half of the excursion the scenery is simply incredible, offering a 360-degree panorama overlooking the Val di Primiero on the southern side and – from west to east – the Dolomite groups of Passo Rolle, Val di Fiemme, Val di Fassa, Latemar, Catinaccio Marmolada, Civetta and Vette Feltrine. The summit of Vezzana is a beautiful balcony overlooking Passo Rolle and Val Venegia with a 1,000 m drop, where the Travignòlo glacier remains today. The return route to Rifugio Pedrotti, however, is rather dull compared to the first part of the excursion and definitely does not offer the same view.
