Gardeccia
Check the gears. That’s our recommendation if you want to take on the Gardeccia. A climb with steep slopes that leaves no room for improvisation. Although short, measuring just over 6 km, it has walls at 17% and an average slope of 10 percent.

With modern gears you can sure feel the fatigue, but it's nothing if you think of what Francesco Moser, Bertoglio and Gimondi had to work with. In the great stage of the Giro of 1976, Gimondi lost the pink jersey on this climb, but resisted attacks from runners-up and won the Giro in the end. Today only the final stretch of 200 meters recalls those heroic times. What remains of them is the strain and the ultimate satisfaction.
