Selected alternatives for you
Nice loop variant of the simple ascent to Monte Penegal starting from the locality Regole di Malosco, famous for the excellent dishes of its 3 mountain huts!

The ascent route is usually frequented and therefore tracked. The descent instead from the summit of Monte Penegal via the Forcolana is less frequented and you may find yourself breaking track in fresh snow.

    Author’s recommendation

If you are not very trained and have little familiarity with orientation in the mountains in its winter aspect, we recommend making the descent on the same route as the ascent.

    Safety information

Once you reach the summit of Monte Penegal, continue north along the SAT500 trail following the ridge, be careful of exposed points.

As you can imagine, the traversability of routes in a mountain environment is strictly linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this sheet may have changed. Before leaving, check the route status by contacting the hut operators on your route, mountain guides, visitor centers of natural parks, and tourist offices.

    Tips and suggestions

The restaurants and huts located at Regole di Malosco deserve a taste of their sweet or savory specialties!

    Roadbook

From the locality Regole di Malosco continue towards the La Monteson Restaurant and then take the SAT 508 trail marker which first leads to the Malga di Malosco and then climbs up to the summit of Monte Penegal. The route takes place on a forest road in the woods and does not have steep slopes except for a first short stretch.

Continue always along the forest road with the SAT508 trail marker until reaching the summit of Monte Penegal: the view from up here opens to the entire Adige Valley.

For the return, head north following this time the SAT500 trail marker which alternates sections near the ridge to sections in the woods and then descends steeply down to the Forcolana. Here you enter the forest road with the SAT514 trail marker which leads semi-flat back to the locality Regole di Malosco.
