Peace Trail 27: From Rifugio Malga Masi to Campestrini

Long stage, although almost entirely downhill, which, while not presenting significant moments, flows smoothly and offers beautiful views. You arrive tired, good to know!

Leaving the agritourism Malga Masi we take the path beside the building, which climbs sharply cutting across the hairpins of the forestry road up to the La Bassa pass, characterized by wide meadows and views of the peaks of Adamello, Brenta, and Austria. From there we take path 372, which runs flat among the larch trees, alternating wide track sections with single tracks; thus we bypass the Hoabort-Fravort and Cola mountains, gradually losing altitude. A few hundred meters after crossing the Larganza stream at Busa dell'Orso, with a very quick detour we can admire the small Lago delle Prese.

We thus arrive on an asphalt road, which we follow reaching the Serot refuge; shortly after we take path 323, which cuts the hairpins of the road progressively gaining altitude. With a final push we reach Lago delle Carezze, a swampy pond immersed in a truly fascinating setting (ideal place for a snack), after which it is all downhill.

Crossing the plateau along the mule track, we quickly reach a well-kept mountain hut, from which we take the path on the left, heading towards Malga Casapinello. From here we continue along the dirt road, paying attention to the correct direction at the forks, until reaching the stream dividing the valley and crossing it; changing side, we continue a bit on a path until finding a forestry road and continue on it. The kilometers are felt, but progress quickly and always downhill. We pass onto asphalt, then back on dirt crossing the Rio Val Mendana; we then return permanently to asphalt and face the last 4 km, appreciating here and there nice farms and, above all, the views of the rocky bastions of the Ortigara group, truly scenic. We thus reach the small village of Campestrini.
