Peace Trail 28: From Campestrini to Rifugio Malga Conseria

Long but relatively fast stage, a transfer, in the direction of Lagorai and Cima d'Asta. A somewhat boring first part is contrasted by a nice final climb, with a view from above of the Val Campelle.

We cross the center of Campestrini and, finding the trail markers, start the ascent towards Musiera. We walk for about a kilometer on a cobbled mule track, partly asphalted, quickly gaining altitude; then we move onto the trail, always clear. The climb does not give relief, but there are no difficulties of any kind and we are almost always in the shade of the woods.

After a couple of kilometers, the slope lessens and, at 1365 m elevation, we reach the forestry road that quickly leads to the settlement of Musiera di Sopra. We continue on a false flat, passing on asphalt, and pass Musiera di Sotto. Remaining on the forestry road, we continue with ups and downs; then, having skirted the Corno hill, we begin to slowly lose altitude on a dirt path. Having reached the forest hut Malga La Pozza (closed or self-managed), we take a left and continue descending until we find ourselves in a large parking area near the highway.

We follow the road only to cross the valley bottom stream, called Maso, and then leave it to return to the forestry road and continue descending towards Pontarso. Arriving again at the stream course, at Pontarso, we keep left and shortly after cross the Rio Maso Spinelle, which we cross on a wide bridge. Having changed the orographic side, we start the slow ascent of Val Campelle, initially on dirt, then the road becomes asphalted. We climb quickly and, having reached the main road, we follow it for several kilometers passing some smaller hamlets until reaching the Carlettini hut. To the southeast, in the gap between two valleys, the walls of Cima Caldenave and the Campanili di Val Orsera stand out.

Although it is possible to stay overnight here, it is worth holding on a little longer and aiming for Malga Conseria. From Carlettini, we take the Water Trail, which runs parallel to the Rio Maso Spinelle; we return one last time on asphalt for a few hundred meters, until Ponte Conseria, and there take trail 326. The climb changes: the slope becomes significant and constant, but the panorama improves accordingly and the path is well marked. After a slight traverse, which gives us time to rest, we face the last stretch and reach the meadows of Malga Conseria.
