Poit - Val de Riva - Fonteghi - Valpiana
The Val de Riva suspension bridge is a picturesque 70-meter-long bridge suspended 30 meters above the wild gorge of the Rio Giasinozza.
Once you reach the parking lot in Poit, continue on foot, following the signs for Ponte su Funi, and take the road that climbs to the left and leads to the Ìner meadows. From there, follow the dirt road that descends into Val de Riva until you reach the bridge. After crossing the bridge, follow the trail that climbs back up from the opposite side of the valley. Once you’re back on the paved road, follow the signs for Rifugio Fonteghi, which is a 10-minute walk away. From here, for those wishing to continue on to Stalon de Valpiana, take the trail that climbs alongside the wayside shrine to the Madonna and follow the signs for SAT Trail E733, which passes through Valpiana de Sora and leads along a dirt road to the Mezzano Forest Lodge. Once there, take the second road on the right, keeping the wooden sculpture on your left, and continue along the forest road leading to Stalon de Valpiana. After about 30 minutes, you’ll reach the meadows of the former Valpiana mountain pasture; from here, descend the concrete road and take the SAT E735 trail, which leads back to the Fonteghi mountain hut. From the hut, the return trip follows the same route taken on the way there.
