<p>Toraro dominates the extensive Alpe di Melegna and the Campiluzzi valley from the east. From the 1897 m of the summit, a magnificent panorama opens up over the Coe pass, the ridge of Mount Maggio and the Veneto-Vicentine valleys, as far as the Asiago plateau.</p>
<p>The excursion makes use of the road that from the Valbona pass cuts across the high northern and north-eastern slopes of the mountain, built by the Air Force in the early 1960s to reach the summit of the mountain on which the control area (radar and electronic tanks) of the nearby Malga Zonta NATO missile base was set up, now a museum display at Base Tuono.</p>
