SAT / E235 - Caldonazzo - Luserna/Lusérn

Section of the E5 Lake Constance-Verona Trail that from S.Giuliana (Caldonazzo - Valsugana) on a good climb ascends the steep slope overlooking the valley and reaches Alpe Cimbra, on the Vèzzena plateau, and then continues until it reaches Luserna/Lusérn, the homeland of the Cimbri. Requires good physical preparation.

After overcoming the most challenging elevation gain by ascending the Val Pissavacca along trail 201, the path reaches Baita Cangi. From Baita Cangi it follows trail 205 for a few minutes towards Passo Vezzena and at the Busa delle Scandole junction (to Busa Verle), continues on the Slavai forest road towards Vezzena; upon reaching the edge of the Malga Palù pasture, we take a path that descends to the forest edge, circumventing the pasture of the malga. After crossing the stream that further downstream forms the Rio Bianco, we ascend the opposite side until intersecting S.P. 349, just above Malga Rivetta; near Col del Cuco, we join the Peace Trail. After a short common stretch, we descend on a forest road to cross the Malga Laghetto ski slope and, on level ground, walking for a long time through a beautiful fir forest, we arrive at the large crossroads of Tannbolt where the Peace Trail converges again. We continue on the former military road to Millegrobbe. The road gains altitude with some turns and brings us to S.P. Luserna-Passo Vezzena, a few hundred meters from Malga Millegrobbe. We reach the malga walking a short stretch of the provincial road. At the Malga (restaurant, resort, winter sports center) we take the dirt road leading to Forte Lusérn (War 1914-1918). We then turn to the Millegrobbe pasture and crest at loc. Sbant: along an ancient drovers' road it gently descends among the cultivated and terraced meadows of Boan, to the Hüttn huts and, along a fine path bordered by dry stone walls, right into the center of the Luserna village.
