Mountain tour
Val di Lares - La Via delle Valli
Challenging and highly rewarding trekking characterized by constant steepness, powerful waters of waterfalls and streams, evocative scenery, and arrival at the alpine lake of glacial origin.
Val di Lares is accessed via Val Genova.
The excursion starts from Malga Genova, where you take the SAT trail 214, opposite the park info point, just before the locality Ponte Rosso.
The itinerary rises steeply alongside the Lares Waterfalls which, with powerful water leaps, crash forcefully on the rocks below forming wonderful rainbows.
The waterfalls are fed by Lake Lares, recently formed by the retreat of the Lares glacier, which runs down the valley along the Rio Lares.
The valley takes its name from the abundant presence of larches ("laras" in dialect) which in autumn assume indescribable golden colors.
It is a demanding trail, especially in the first section that climbs a ledge of a few hundred meters and continues with a steep slope up to Malga di Lares where a long flat section begins. After the plateau you start climbing again in a magnificent and open environment over rocks framed by the Adamello glacier up to Lake Lares, located below Carè Alto.
