Cavedine

Cavedine is the administrative and cultural centre of the valley it was named after, and includes Laguna, located at the bottom of the valley and Musté built on terraces. Cavedine valley is also called val del vent (windy valley) for breeze never stops blowing through the valley. It is surrounded by the Bondone chain on the East, by Mount Casale on the West and by the ridge of Monte Gazza-Paganella on the North, and the Brenta chain further back.
Among the worth-seeing attractions, besides the elegant cottages and the typical farm-houses, special mention goes to Piazza Italia, which is the most relevant example of village squares in the valley. You can still find traces of the original ancient urban lay-out: tile-roofed houses, small bridges leading to barnyards, airy open galleries, elegant buildings decorated with Sixteenth century ornaments on the windows and doorways, outdoor stone staircases, small vegetable gardens scattered here and there in harmony with the setting.

Cavedine is one of the most renowned pre-historical and Roman archaeological sites. Later on the age-old village called Pieve di Cavedine (1100 m a.s.l.) acted as catalyzer for the valley's activities during the Middle Ages. The area slso features a very interesting Roman road and an archaeological path.

A large glacial valley stretched between Dro and Pietramurata, the Sarca Valley includes a special area called Marocche, which is one of the of the most unique landscapes to be seen in the entire Alpine area. Marocche is a huge stretch of boulders which fell down from the Brento and Casale mountains. Problably Lake Cavedine got formed during those landslides. It is possible to fish numerous species of fish there.
