Drena
Dominating the Sarca valley from above, nestled between the mild Garda climate and the ruggedness of the mountains
Caught between the mild climate of Lake Garda and more Alpine climes, Drena dominates both the Sarca valley and the breathtaking glacial landslide of the "Marocche".
Drena can trace its roots back to prehistoric times, but it acquired most of its features during its Roman and medieval period, as it grew and developed around the castle built to defend the road at the bottom of the valley. Immersed in nature and tranquillity, the town is just a few kilometres away from Arco, Riva del Garda and Trento, and enjoys all the advantages of its position.
Its symbol is the ashlar-worked tower of Drena Castle. Expunged several times in the past, it has been perfectly restored today. Concerts, shows and important art exhibitions are held here. Tourists should also visit the churches of San Martino and San Carlo Borromeo. Further north, several paths unfurl amongst secular chestnut groves - including a number which are of cultural interest, such as the open-air sculpture park, Drena 3000.
Malga Campo is highly suggestive and is an ideal place in which to spend a few days in communion with nature and rural life.
