Garniga Terme
Garniga Terme, the hay queen with its natural garden of precious, therapeutic Alpine herbs
Garniga Terme is located at 800 meters above sea level on the Western flank of Monte Bondone. The town can be described as a natural garden, surrounded by conifer woods and by a ring of wild, rocky peaks. Tourists to the area can enjoy walks leading up to the Bondone plateau as well as to the Tre Cime on Monte Bondone (the tallest being the Cornetto peak, standing at 2170 meters above sea level).
Garniga Terme is the leading phytobalneotherapy, that is hay-bathing, in Italy, and has turned this age-old treatment into a state-of-the-art medical therapy. This natural therapy draws its curative properties from the variety of grasses cut on the Viote meadows on Monte Bondone and collected in the early morning. With its heat and scents spreading off by the grass, hay-bathing is an excellent cure for rheumatisms and arthritis, and help relieve pain associated with muscular spasms and joint stiffness.
As far as area history and landscape are concerned, especially noteworthy attraction is the ancient church of S. Osvaldo, which enjoys a wonderful view on the "dos dei Nòzi" hill.
