Revò - Novella #2

Revò is the cultural centre of the Terza Sponda - "Three Banks", so called after the formation of Lake Santa Giustina - and stretches out between the torrents of Pescara and Novella. In the past the town's relevance resulted from two roads: the Roman road, and the Regai road, which used to take travellers to Dermulo - but which was later submerged by the Santa Giustina hydroelectric reservoir.
The town looks southwards as a sort of balcony overlooking both the lake and the Val di Non. Local vines are grown on steep slopes, which stretch down towards the lake and are used to manifacture a Trentino wine called Groppello di Revò.
The town's origins are Roman, as proved by epigraphs and other archaeological objects discovered here. It also boasts the oldest communal irrigation waterworks of the valley. The town's urban layout has kept its traditional features. The highest part of Revò is called Colomel, and features clustered houses criss-crossed by passageways. The lower part of the town is known as Frona, while its middle part as Piazza. A number of beautiful 16th - 17th century residences built according to a unique style known as "d'Oltradige Atesino" are featured here. Of the many beautiful palaces the town boasts, the striking Casa Campia is definitely worth a visit.
The parish church of S. Stefano stands majestically in a slightly off-centre position with respect to the town.
