Vermiglio
With art and history, Vermiglio is a cross-country skiers' paradise
Vermiglio is the last town in the Val di Sole valley. Perched on the slopes of Mount Boai, it is famous for its handicrafts, especially for its ceramic stoves.
Badly damaged during the Great War, the town started being rebuilt in 1919. The churches of S. Stefano (1215) and S. Caterina, and la Casa del Dazio are definitely worth visiting.
Besides sport and accommodation facilities in the town-center of Vermiglio, a wide range of accommodations, ski facilities and services are to be found in the Passo del Tonale village. Featuring a past of long-distance cross-country ski competitions, Vermiglio has recently hosted a number of national and international cross-country Nordic ski events.
The Centro Fondo Vermiglio ski runs wind for over 20 km through the Vopaia-Stavel-Velon area, the far-off edge of the valley bordering with Lombardy region. It is set on a beautiful background of conifer woods and characteristically Alpine houses, between Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio (on the North side) and Parco Naturale Adamello Brenta (on the South side).
A skating rink adds to the range of attractions for winter sports lovers.
