The mountains and valleys of Trentino host thousands of visitors all year round, but they also offer some hidden gems, away from the usual congested tourist destinations.
The area of Valsugana and the Lagorai may be less well known than its neighbours but boasts two modern, well-equipped skiing areas.
Let’s start with the modern Panarotta 2002 ski area, not far from the thermal baths of Levico and Vetriolo, with 18 km of safe slopes with guaranteed snow, served by 4 lift facilities, a snow park, a ski camp with a magic carpet and a toboggan slope.
We also recommend the Funivie Lagorai ski area at the Brocon-Marande pass, overlooking the Tesino highlands, that offers 15 km of recently renovated slopes, 4 ski lift facilities, a Snow Park and the Skilandia fun park with a magic carpet for the return trip to the top.
Three of the slopes and the snow park are equipped with artificial lighting making it possible to keep skiing even after dark. Both ski centres offer especially reserved slopes for tobogganing, ski rental services and qualified ski instructors from the Panarotta 2002 and Lagorai Ski Schools.
For lovers of cross-country skiing, the highland of Vezzena is the place to go. With two 12km circuits straddling the Vezzena pass that link up to to the cross-country skiing centre of Millegrobbe (12km) and the centre of Campolongo (21km). Other areas worthy of mention are th Val Campelle, with an artificially lit circuit for night skiing, and the slopes of the Marcesine highlands. All circuits are frequently groomed and suitable for the skating (freestyle) technique, are served by spacious parking facilities and offer ski rental services.
The Valsugana and the Lagorai aren’t limited to the ski slopes. Here it’s possible to enjoy some alternative activities such as snowshoe trekking and ski-mountaineering through these wild, yet safe and well-serviced, lands on an experience you will never forget.
Great excitement in the Panarotta ski area for the installation of a new three-seater chairlift facility (Malga Montagna Granda - Cima Esi), with a carrying capacity of 1,500 passengers per hour. In addition, there’s a new ski link along with new snowmaking cannons, guaranteeing increased accessibility and snow quality.
