An app to save queueing, online ski passes and improved cable lifts

This is how Trentino’s getting ready for the new ski season

WINTER 2021/2022 – Safety, innovation and quality services: these are the keywords inspiring Trentino’s preparations for the upcoming winter holiday season.

As just one example of the ways in which you can enjoy the mountain safely, our swift and comfortable cable lifts reduce travel time while offering plenty of space and new technological tools to minimise or even eliminate queueing.

Then, add in a whopping 800 km of slopes, most of them divided up between two major resorts: Dolomiti Superski (350 kilometres) and Skirama Dolomiti-Adamello Brenta (approx. 400 kilometres). These numbers should offer plenty of reassurance, given that skiing is an individual, outdoor activity which naturally involves distancing, a key factor in reducing risks.

For details on the rules for accessing the cable lifts, see the section on how to vacation safely on the website

Use the app to skip the queue!

Queueing not only creates gatherings, but is also a boring way to spend precious holiday time. For this reason, Trentino’s ski resorts have designed apps that place you in a virtual queue so that you can simply turn up at the turnstile at a specific time, or apps that show the movements of people at mountain huts, restaurants and self-service facilities on the slopes.

Want some examples? Many resorts of the Skirama Consortium use the QODA app, which lets you book your cable lift ride so that you know what time to turn up at the station in the valley. A tool which saves the need to queue.

The Dolomiti Superski app, on the other hand, shows you an innovative Skiers Map which displays how many skiers are present at the lifts.

Buy your ski pass online

It was already possible to purchase your ski pass online, but this season we’ve worked to expand and simplify the process of purchasing ski passes and seasonal passes online. We’ve also come up with new ways to pick up your ski pass, such as getting it right from your hotel, to save you from having to go to ski pass offices and cash registers.

You can buy the Dolomiti Superski ski pass online at the website dolomitisuperski.com and then hit the slopes right away. What's more, the passes themselves are eco-friendly thanks to the use of recycled paper. Even at the stations where Kcards have been introduced, a daily or multi-day ski pass can be topped up online so that you can proceed straight to the turnstile, without stopping at the cash register.

New features in the ski areas

As the areas open up, some completely new cable lifts will enter into operation in Val di Fassa and at Madonna di Campiglio.

Val di Fassa: new chairlifts and improved tracks

For example, there’s the new Kristiania six-seat chairlift in Val di Fassa, or the modern, ten-seat cable car with automatic coupling in the ski area of Carezza, which has been given the name König Laurin. A distance of over 1,800 m, with an intermediate station, will be covered in just 6 minutes.

Still in Val di Fassa, improvements have been made to the tracks of the “Vajolet 1” and “Vajolet 2” slopes in the Pozza di Fassa - Ciampedìe ski area, while the final stretch of the “Fiamme Oro 1” slope in the Alpe Lusia - San Pellegrino ski area has also been improved.

Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo: the ski pass revolution

The Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta Ski Area is inaugurating the ten-seat D-Line Fortini – Pradalago cable car: 102 new cabins with heated seats, plenty of space, and an attractive design to ensure a comfortable journey.

The real innovation in this ski area is the “ski pass revolution”. Prices for the ski passes are no longer fixed, but vary so that you only pay in proportion to how much you ski, based on a new system of buying and selling. The pay-per-use approach meets the world of skiing: but that’s not all. The seasonal pass has been retired forever, to be replaced by the “Starpass”. The more holders of the Starpass ski, the less they pay.

Paganella: fresh surprises for kids

New features at the Paganella ski resort are tailored to families, like the first sledge slope, for example, accessible via the Santel-Meriz chairlift that departs from close to Fai della Paganella.

Additionally, the Prati di Gaggia area — where you’ll also find the Polo Primi Passi Eskimo practice area — has a new easy slope called the “orsetto bianco”, ideal to give beginners a full yet gradual immersion in the world of skiing, and particularly suitable for kids.

Val di Sole introduces Green Mountain Huts

The Val di Sole Tourist Board and the Pontedilegno-Tonale Consortium have implemented a fantastic environmental, social and economic sustainability project, to increase guests’ environmental awareness. The project involves four mountain huts (Capanna Presena, Panorama 3000 Glacier, Passo Paradiso and Malga Valbiolo) earmarked to become “green”: they will use only energy from renewable sources, be totally plastic free, use Ecolabel products and offer a selection of food and wine based on local, Zero-km, organic produce with quality labels.
