Fire February, Spring Awakening in March
An ancient festival of fire, noise, and joy to bid farewell to winter and welcome spring… together, young and old!
In Alpe Cimbra, when February is coming to an end, the community gathers for one of the most magical and entertaining moments of the year. It’s time to “drive away winter”!
How? With cowbells, whistles, wooden ladles and anything that makes noise! Children have fun playing, running, laughing… while the adults prepare a huge bonfire in the center of the meadow, often still covered in snow.
As night falls, the fire is lit and the celebration begins: dancing, singing, and storytelling around the flames that light up the sky. It’s a magical moment, where the bond with nature and the oldest traditions of Alpe Cimbra are felt strongly.

Friday, February 27
Location: San Sebastiano
Time: from 17:00 at the Civic Center
Children's workshop "Let’s Prepare the Garaisla"
Saturday, February 28 Location: San Sebastiano
Time: from 20:00 - Parade through the village with horns, strozeghe, cowbells, bells, and garaisla
from 20:45 - Lighting of the Fire, with songs and dances
All the population is invited to parade and bring noisy items with them!
