On Friday, September 12, 2025, the 39th concert season of Trento Musicantica kicks off, an international festival that, as expected, returns every autumn to bring the emotion of ancient music to the Castello del Buonconsiglio and other historic places in the Trentino capital. Organised by the Santa Chiara Cultural Services Centre and the Laurence K.J. Feininger Centre of Excellence, which has been involved in the study and dissemination of ancient music for years, the Festival is scheduled from 12 September to 5 December and features a wide-ranging artistic programme, with eight appointments including new projects, moments of in-depth study and chapters to be rediscovered.
The calendar of events was presented this morning at a press conference by Danilo Curti (president of the Laurence Feininger Centre of Excellence), Massimo Ongaro (director of the S. Chiara Cultural Services Centre in Trento) and Marco Gozzi (artistic director of Trento Musicantica).

Titled Jubilee singing, the Festival focuses in particular on three anniversaries that fall in 2025: the Jubilee of Hope, the five-hundredth anniversary of the birth of Giovanni Pierluigi, known as‘ the Palestrina ’, one of the greatest composers of the European Renaissance, and the third centenary of the death of Alessandro Scarlatti, one of the most important authors of the Neapolitan school and one of the greatest Italian composers of the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries.
Most of the events, thanks to an active collaboration since the birth of the Festival, are held at the Castello del Buonconsiglio; in addition to the Castle, the Festival will touch two other places of great historical and artistic interest in Trento: the Badia di San Lorenzo and the Church of San Francesco Saverio.
"The new edition of Trento Musicantica confirms the ability of our territory to preserve and renew the great musical tradition, intertwining art, history and spirituality. The Castello del Buonconsiglio and the other places that host the Festival thus become spaces where ancient music resonates and dialogues with the present, offering the public a cultural experience of the highest level. Thisyear the billboard takes on a special meaning, linking to three anniversaries that invite us to reflect on the depth and relevance of great masters such as Palestrina and Scarlatti, and on the universal value of the Jubilee of Hope. Thanks go to the Santa Chiara Cultural Services Centre and the Laurence K.J. Feininger Centre of Excellence for the passion and competence with which they continue to propose a path that enriches the cultural landscape of Trentino", said the provincial councillor for education, culture, youth and equal opportunities Francesca Gerosa.
