32 - Astico route
Along the initial stretch of the Astico stream, in the Trentino section, mills and hydraulic sawmills were established. Today, various remains of these structures, which played a key role in the mountain rural economy until the First World War, still exist, some truly significant. Rediscovering them is a journey through time and history.
The ecosystem surrounding a stream is always very rich. Flowers, plants, and tree species typical of humid mountain environments tell precious tales of nature, to discover and rediscover. Among them, signs of centuries-old human activity. The Astico route leads to the discovery of the ancient Porta farmhouse (remains of mill and bakery) and the fascinating natural environment that accompanies the Astico stream.
