Along the Enantio Route
A route through the Enantio vineyards leading to the visit of the frescoed Castle of Sabbionara d'Avio, a property of FAI.

The route passes through the villages of Sabbionara and Avio, passing near the homonymous castle, along sections paved with the characteristic ancient cobblestones.

Enantio, or Lambrusco with jagged leaves, is an indigenous red grape wine from the lower Vallagarina. Here, near the municipalities of Ala and Avio, the valley narrows on the sides of the Adige river offering an ideal home for this vine on the few gravelly slopes adjacent to the river. Its grapes produce a very full-bodied ruby red wine that reaches its fullest expression when aged in wooden barrels for several years. It is still grown and bottled today thanks to the work of a small number of passionate winemakers, with great satisfaction for its complex organoleptic tasting profile.
