With its 3.342 meters, the Marmolada towers over all the other mountain peaks. From here the view dominates the whole of the Dolomites on one side, and it descends to the plain towards Venice on the other. A massive glacier that features a vertical wall 800 metres long to the South, while to the North it offers the spectacle of Lake Fedaia.
Spending the night in a mountain hut at Passo Fedaia (14 km from Canazei) means getting up in the morning and with a jump in the cable car reaching Pian dei Fiacconi 2.646 metres a.s.l. The 5.5 km of red ski slopes are the best for those who want to enjoy skiing surrounded by the nature of the highest mountain of the Dolomiti Superski carousel, right in the middle of the Great War Tour. This is a historical tour that winds through the summits of Civetta, Pelmo, Tofane, Col di Lana and Lagazuoi, which were the stages of bloody battles between 1915 and 1918. The tour spans a total one hundred kilometres. Any moderately trained average skier or snowboarder can handle the strain of the tour. The travel time is approximately 7-8 hours, including a stop for lunch or a snack at one of the several mountain huts on the slopes.
This is also a real paradise for lovers of off-piste skiing and of climbing with seal skins, which from February to early May can leave their mark on the perpetual snows of the Queen of the Dolomites.
