Befana’s coming in Vigo!
The "Befana" comes at night with her shoes all broken, bringing sweets and wonders to those who have been good... and a little coal to the naughty ones!
A uniquely Italian tradition, the "Befana" is a friendly old woman who flies on her broomstick during the night between 5 and 6 January to visit children. It is the night of the Epiphany, the twelfth night after Christmas, when stockings hung by the fireplace or near the window are filled with anticipation and magic. According to tradition, "Befana" leaves sweets, candies, dried fruit and small gifts for the most well-behaved children; for the naughtiest ones, however, she leaves a little coal. But who knows... maybe even that coal is sweet, because "Befana", after all, is only grumpy as a joke. And this year, her broomstick will once again stop off in Val di Fassa: on the evening of 5 January, the "Befana" will arrive in the square in front of the Tourist Office in Vigo, ready to greet the little ones and give them smiles, sweets and special surprises...
The initiative is open to everyone and no registration is required.
