RUSTICO MEDIOEVO
Culture, food and wine, entertainment
The small square, alleys, and arches of Canale transform into a captivating stage for always-original performances.
Without forgetting the aroma and flavor of traditional dishes, prepared and served with passion by the local volunteers of the Committee.
Medieval shows and other events take place in the picturesque square of the medieval village of Canale.
Jugglers, minstrels, storytellers, actors, street artists, musicians, and skilled acrobats from the Eastern circus entertain visitors. On the village streets, one can encounter characters in costume re-enacting duels, processions, and ancient markets. The atmosphere of the village is made even more enchanting by the presence of banners, flags, tables displaying edicts of Lombard rulers, and torch lights.
The games for both children and adults are also original, recalling traditions that have now fallen into disuse, such as medieval crosses, or others based on popular customs, like sack races, the piñata game, and treasure hunts.
The offering of typical dishes from the lower Trentino region has become, over time, one of the main attractions of the event. Dishes such as polenta and peveraà, goulash, rustic roast pork, pork leg, tripe, salted cod, and pork rack with sauerkraut are all served and enjoyed in the arches and vaults that preserve the charm of the original 13th-century architecture.
