During the FAI spring days, the cultural landmarks of Vallagarina wait for you with guided tours and special openings.
CASTELLO DI AVIO | SABBIONARA D’AVIO
Located on a spur of Mount Vignola overlooking Vallagarina -crossed by the Adige river- stands one of the oldest castles of Trentino. It has been standing for more than ten centuries. Donated to FAI by Emanuela di Castelbarco Pindemonte Rezzonico, in 1977, the “Castello di Avio” with its majestic towers and its crenellated walls is a keep meant to strategically watch over the “Valle dell’Adige”, the Castle hosts a luxuriant garden and its walls are adorned with a vibrant, precious cycle of frescoes by Giotto, war and love-themed.

Autonomous visits from 10 am to 6 pm (last admission at 5 pm). Reservation is not required. Guided tour with the Director at 10 am -booking required- (T. 0464 684453). The cost of the guided tour is 10 euros.
Apiary lectures at 3 pm. Entrance fee 5 euros. - Sunday 23rd of March

ANTICA PIEVE ROMANICA | AVIO
The “Pieve cimiteriale di Avio” is one of Vallagarina’s oldest places of worship. Its pagan or early christian initial structure has been subject to a complex architectural evolution which resulted in the Pieve known today, with three naves. The first mention dates back to 1145, as a parish of the Verona diocese.

CASA DEL VICARIO | AVIO
Located in the city centre of Avio, the “Casa del Vicario” hosts the municipal Antiquarium. The museum displays important archeological findings retrieved in the area. Admire the roman stone markers that marked the ancient travellers’ pathway, and two funerary inscriptions dating back to around the first half of the 1st century AD.
