Tortel&Gropel: A Taste of Val di Non

From January 9th to March 1st, 2026, the Tortel&Gropel festival invites you to discover two local treasures: the tortèl di patate, a beloved potato specialty, and Groppello, the native red wine of Val di Non.

The tortèl di patate is a simple yet irresistible dish that tells the story of the valley’s farming families, once prepared as daily food and a reason to gather together. Today, it arrives at the table steaming hot, accompanied by local cheeses, cured meats, carne salada, cabbage, and borlotti beans—best enjoyed with a touch of onion.

Groppello, known as Val di Non’s “heroic grape,” grows on steep, terraced slopes overlooking Lake Santa Giustina. Cultivated by just five winemaking families, it requires patience, care, and courage. The result is a wine with a unique personality: vibrant acidity, elegant spice, and subtle oak from small barrels—perfect with every bite of tortèl.

Each participating restaurant offers its own version of tortèi di patate, adding special touches like short ribs, sauerkraut, pepper stew, homemade jam, or a traditional dessert. And, naturally, no experience is complete without a glass—or a bottle—of Groppello, the region’s signature red wine.

For every complete menu featuring tortèl di patate and wine, you will receive a discount voucher for purchasing Groppello and other local wines at participating wineries. The voucher offers 10% off a minimum purchase of €30 and is valid from January 9th to March 31st, 2026.

Tortel&Gropel is a journey through the authentic flavors of the valley, celebrating the rich gastronomy and traditions of the Valli del Noce.
