40th Stava anniversary
Via Crucis in Val di Stava
On the eve of the anniversary, the evocative Via Crucis takes place, beginning at 8:30 pm from the locality of Pesa.
It winds through Val di Stava, concluding in front of the little Church of Palanca in Stava. The Stations of the Cross are led by Don Albino Dell’Eva, parish priest of the Santa Maria del Cammino pastoral unit, which includes the parish of Tesero, and form a deeply felt communal moment for the families of the victims and for the community of Tesero. At each station, the names of the 268 victims of the disaster are solemnly recited.
The Stations are illuminated by the boys and girls of Tesero carrying torches, and are accompanied by songs from the Genzianella Choir, the Santa Cecilia Choral Society, and the Tesero Youth Choir.
The Via Crucis unfolds along the provincial road that connects Tesero to Stava, covering a distance of about 800 m with an elevation change of nearly 80 metres.
